INTRODUCING. . .
THE BATHURST PROJECT
FULL SERVICE DECORATING PROJECT
DINING ROOM
PHASE 1 - THE BEFORE
THE CLIENT BRIEF
This project came about back before the inception of IDX, when Shelby was running Novak Design Co.
The driving force for this project was The One Room Challenge which happens twice a year! The gist of the challenge is that each designer selects one room to design over 8 weeks.
The process is documented in 6 blog posts (as can be found in the blog section of our website) and via insta Highlights.

For the challenge, Shelby decided to finally style her dining room. It’s funny because, at the time she had just bought the first dining table she owned in about 6 years! Shocking right!?!

But, in a one bedroom apartment that she works out of, she didn't have much need for dining table and already had a pretty large desk in an open concept living room / dining room area.
Because the desk didn’t have any drawers and really resembled a dining table (except being more narrow) she would just use that for dinners that included guests.
One day she became super envious of all the fabulous dining spaces she saw online and decided it was time, plus the ORC was coming up.
The property is a rental so she wouldn't be able to change the floors, but instead, can utilize some methods to draw attention away from the Toronto renters special, 'orange parquet' floors and colours that will work well with them where visible.

Because this really is an area that they would use for mainly for celebrations, entertaining and the like, the style she's going for is GLAM! (Well, and because it's one of her personal favourites!)
